The Skelwith Group has got the final go ahead for a hotel development in north Yorkshire.
Skelwith plans a £100m, five-star hotel and leisure development at Flaxby Country Resort.
The Skelwith Group’s revised plans for the Flaxby Hotel and road improvements were passed at Harrogate Council’s planning committee meeting last week.
Work will start as soon as legal agreements are finalised with the council and highway authorities which is likely to be in around six weeks.
Paul Ellis, the Skelwith Group’s managing director, said: “The contractor is signed up, we have a first class hotel operator on board and funding secured.”
The Flaxby Country Resort will also include bars, restaurants, a luxury spa, restaurants and boutiques and the 240,000 sq ft development will be set around the existing 27-hole golf course.
Opening is expected by the end of 2011 and Wates Construction has been signed up as main contractor.
